Friday Night Flicks (FNF) is a progressive music group started by Avi Walter in April, 2021 to play at Gotta Get Together in Romney, WV with friends Will Pierce, John Merritt, and Danny Ortiz. Later that year John Merritt was replaced by Nina Avedissian on keyboard, Danny by Drake Newcomb, and Robert Rose joined on melodica. Since then the FNF line-up has undergone changes including the Welcome to Violence line-up of Avi Walter, Will Pierce, Laura Feibelman, and Drake Newcomb. Most recently the band has been playing with Avi Walter on bass guitar & vocals, Will Pierce on guitar & vocals, Hank Hampton on drums, and special guest Justin Paschalides on keys.
Inspired by elements in popular culture such as movies, TV shows, theatre, and books, FNF develops and performs songs that display not only the feel of your favorite stories, but explores the narratives themselves too!! Musically drawing from funky, psychadelic sounds such as Les Claypool and Frank Zappa as well as musical theatre and bebop jazz, FNF delivers a musical box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get 🙂
